Membrane Bioreactor

Rielli membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plant, operates with combined processes of aerobic biologic waste water treatment and ultrafiltration with a submerged membrane.

The ultrafiltration unit submerged in the biologic reactor basin operates with a suction (negative pressure) of -0,2 bar. The micro pores of the filter surface which are only 0,2 mic size filtrate all the suspended solids larger than this size and the microorganisms in the water. So the discharge water from a Rielli MBR can be recycled for various purposes.
With cross flow operation the flow created on the membrane surface protects the filter fibers from blockings. Despite this some solids may still stick to the filter surface. To overcome this  the membranes are automatically and periodically back washed with clear water or treated water. The removed particles are carried back to the biological treatment process. This protection operation is supported by long term chemical cleaning of the membranes.

In the MBR technique because the separation of sludge is made by the ultrafiltration module there is no need for a settling tank. Due to the absence of the settling process the sludge level in the biologic reactor basin can be increased up to three times. These practically result in 70% less requirement of the foodprint.
Membrane Bioreactor Scheme
Uses of MBR

• High purification in domestic and industrial wastewater treatment.
• In the case of discharge of the treated water to watersheds with strict limits.
• Treatment of highly polluted waste water.
• Providing irrigation water from waste water
• Cases where the present settlement is not sufficient for treatment with conventional methods.
• Cases where the present waste water treatment plant remains insufficient to reply the increases in capacity.
• Recycling of waste water to the process.
Why MBR

• Increase in overall treatment capacity with minimum investment.
• Recycling of the waste water.
• Need less food print.
• Less sludge.
• Less energy.
• Less consumption of chemicals.
• High treatment efficiency and removal rate of waste
• Simpler operation when compared to alternative methods
Why Rielli

• Special technology to prevent the breaking of membranes
• Regularly providing excellent discharge water quality.
• Low pressure operation and low energy consumption.
• Need less foodprint area
• Affordable prices despite the high quality.
